In order to provide the highest vibration resistance and optimum electrical performance in a compact structure, TDK Group has developed the first 3 aluminum electrolytic capacitors , dedicated to 60g and in accordance with IEC60068-2-6 standard 2. This type of capacitor is available in three electronic configurations (axial leaded, soldered star and dual plate) sizes from 16mm x 25mm to 18mm x 39mm (thick x length) with capacitance values ​​between 270μF and 5800μF and voltages from 25V to 100V . In addition, all 60g capacitors allow for maximum operating temperatures up to 150 ° C and are compliant with the AEC-Q200 standard.

Axial design and optimized production processes - key factors for achieving maximum vibration resistance

The vibration resistance of an aluminum electrolytic capacitor is determined not only by its size and weight, but also by its mechanical structure to a considerable extent. The fixing of the core in the aluminum shell plays a decisive role in preventing the relative movement of the core in the aluminum shell. Another important factor is the transfer of force from the external contact point to the connection point of the aluminum foil inside the capacitor.

For many years, TDK has adopted an axial structure for up to 45g of vibration resistance. Axial capacitors have a structural advantage over conventional leaded capacitors: the flexible connection of the lead strips and aluminum foil prevents vibration from being transmitted directly to the terminals. Further, the core is fixed in the radial direction by a ring-shaped pressing corrugation in the middle of the aluminum casing.

The new 60-g capacitor is different from the previous generation. The new capacitor has a large fixing force and can reliably prevent the core from moving inside the aluminum casing. TDK has successfully achieved this by optimizing production processes and improving process control to create capacitors that are stronger than ever.
