Atmel Corpora TIon announces the Atmel IDIC ATA5575M2, a low frequency (LF) one-time programming (OTP) transponder IC product. Optimized for the next generation of animal identification systems for pets, wildlife or livestock, the device expands Atmel's broad portfolio of well-known RFID products. The ATA5575M2 can also be used in waste management applications in compliance with the German Federal Waste, Water and Resource Management Association (BDE) standards.
Compared to read-only devices, the Atmel ATA5575M2's OTP feature simplifies the production process and increases flexibility. Prior to shipment, customers can program any required information into the device, including the InternaTIonal Committee for Animal Recording (IACAR) or specific country or manufacturer codes provided by government agencies. This reduces the lead time and time to market to approximately one to two weeks.
The device architecture allows for better read distances by using different coils and readers. The write distance is reduced due to the need for one-time programming (usually when final coupling with the programming device during final label testing and customization). Due to the risks involved in multi-tag programming, larger write distances are not desirable. These improvements help minimize cost and chip size.
In addition, system cost can be reduced by integrating optional 250pF or 330pF on-chip capacitors. Since the entire system requires only one coil, the use of these capacitors eliminates external components and enables very small access control applications. The Atmel ATA5575M2 is approximately 0.9 square millimeters and can be used in most transponder packages, including glass transponders or plastic key housings for very small labels such as animal labels.
The new device's memory contains a unique manufacturer's programming ID that the user can overwrite with a specific animal ID code. The user ID (UID) can be read and archived (along with the animal code) prior to programming to ensure reliable traceability.
Since the LF device operates in the frequency range from 100kHz to 150kHz, the Atmel ATA5575M2 can be used around the world. The device is designed for use in harsh environments and can also be used in atypical RFID applications, including underwater (fish marks), dirt environments (outdoor livestock) or injection through glass or plastic transponders (under animal skin) ) to achieve tracking applications.
The ATA5575M2 transponder IC supports the FDX-B and FDX-A standards:
• FDX-B: ASK modulation, 128-bit, differential bi-phase encoding, fixed bit rate RF/32
• FDX-A: FSK modulation, 96 bits, fixed bit rate RF/50
The ATA5575M2 transponder IC can replace almost all LF RFID read-only devices that conform to the ISO 11784/85 standard FDX-B mode.
Supply and price
Atmel now offers wafer or wafer-in-waffle packaging samples in quantities of 15,000, starting at $0.34 each ATA5575M2. To support engineers and simplify the design of the entire RFID system, Atmel offers an evaluation kit (ATA2270-EK1) with an ATA5575M2 sample tag based on Atmel's well-known AVR microcontrollers. Windows PC software, C source code for AVR microcontrollers, and PCB Gerber data for reader boards.
The JUK universal Screw Terminal Block series has the typical features which are decisive for practical applications:
l The universal foot allows the terminal blocks to be easily snapped onto the NS35 or NS32 DIN Rail with G shape.
l Closed screw guide holes ensure screwdriver operation perfect.
l For terminal block with different wire cross-sectional areas, complete accessories are available, such as end plates, partition plates, etc.
l Potential distribution achieved by fixed bridges in the terminal center or insertion bridges in the clamping space.
l Same shape and pitch Grounding Terminal Blocks as the JUK universal series.
l Adopt ZB marker strip system, achieve unified identification.
