In January 2018, the Chinese new energy automobile market continued to develop rapidly. Although the total sales volume was only 32,000, it increased by 480% compared with January last year. However, behind the sales of some models, they are facing the dilemma of being deprived of subsidies. From June 12 onwards, the national subsidies for pure-electric vehicles in new energy products will be based on the mileage of the vehicles, the power battery energy density, and the vehicle's 100 kilometers. The three indicators of power consumption are jointly determined. After calculating the technical specifications of the 10th to 16th batch of new energy vehicles according to the new standards, we found that many of the models that are currently selling well will lose the qualification to receive subsidies.

Beiqi EC Series

Subsidy is greatly reduced, and some models have no subsidies

The Beiqi EC series models continued their excellent past market performance thanks to the affordable price and the national subsidy of 36,000 yuan. In January, sales ranked first in all new energy products, which was 7,870 vehicles.

According to the subsidy policy that began in June 2018, EC180 models with cruising range of 156km will not receive any subsidies because their 100km power consumption or battery energy density fails to meet the required value.

The EC180 model with a cruising range of 162/170km can only get 0.5 times of subsidies, which is 0.75 million yuan, due to the high power consumption of 100 kilometers. EC220 with a cruising range of 171km can obtain 100% of the standard subsidies. 50,000 yuan; EC220 models with a cruising range of 206km can only get a 0.6-fold subsidy of 14,400 yuan because the battery energy density is only 113Wh/kg.

If BAIC cannot upgrade its batteries with higher energy density before June 12, its national subsidies that can be obtained will be reduced in full, and sales of BAIC New Energy may be significantly reduced.

JAC iEV

It is also not optimistic to cancel the situation of the main model vehicle subsidy cancellation

As the second-ranked model of sales, the advantage of Jianghuai iEV6e is also the same price. At present, it can also receive a state subsidy of 36,000 yuan.

According to the new subsidy policy, since the battery energy density is only 92.59Wh/kg, the lower limit is not reached, so from June 12 this year, the model will not receive any state subsidies.

Among the remaining models, half of the models cannot receive subsidies because of their energy density; the subsidies for JAC iEV7s will be reduced by 10,000 yuan, and the subsidies for the three models of iEVA50 will be increased by 0.55-1.10 million yuan.

Without the price advantage of entry-level products, JAC's new energy sales may be severely affected.

BYD Qin and Song

Subsidy increased after replacement of new batteries

The third-ranked BYD Qin is divided into plug-in hybrid models and pure electric models. Here we only consider pure electric models.

As the first generation and second generation BYD Qin EVs are using lithium iron phosphate power batteries, their energy coefficients are lower than the thresholds for new subsidy standards, so the BYD Qin model with a cruising range of 350km or less starts from June 12th. No state subsidies can be obtained. The battery energy density of the latest BYD Qin EV with a battery life of 400km has reached 137Wh/kg, and the energy consumption per 100km is 15.25kWh, so the model will receive 1.1 times the standard allowance, which is 55,000 yuan The current increase of 11,000 yuan.

At the same time, the BYD Song EV, which ranks fourth in terms of sales, has three models, of which, of the two models with a battery life of 270 km, one cannot receive a subsidy due to low energy density, and the other can receive 0.6 subsidy. , which is 20,400 yuan, a decrease of 23,600 yuan compared with the current; Song EV with a life of 350 km can get a 100% standard subsidy, or 45,000 yuan, an increase of 0.1 million compared with the current.

Roewe ERX5

Subsidy growth for both models

In January, SAIC's Roewe ERX5 ranked fifth in sales, with a sales volume of 2,200 units. The advantage lies in its excellent value design and higher state subsidies.

It is worth mentioning that since the unit's power consumption of Roewe's eRX5 is lower than the threshold power consumption by 25.09%, according to the new subsidy standard, it receives a 1.1-fold subsidy of standard subsidies, or 49,500 yuan, which The current increase of 4,500 yuan, further increase the market competitiveness.

Therefore, Roewe eRX5 will continue to maintain its excellent market competitiveness.

Jiangling E200

A full reduction in subsidies may also be a battle

The Jiangling E200, which ranked seventh in sales in January, also enjoyed a competitive advantage. However, Jiangling's pressure will undoubtedly increase a lot.

As the energy density of the battery is too low, the Jiangling E200S, which has a cruising range of 152km, will not receive new energy subsidies.

The remaining E200 and E200S models can still receive subsidies, but the amount of subsidies has been reduced, ranging from 10,000 yuan to 29,000 yuan. If Jiangling wants to obtain more subsidies, it needs to optimize and upgrade its mileage, unit power consumption, and battery energy density.

Chery eQ

Less subsidies but better days than other cars

Although the same is the electric version of the mini-car, the future of Chery eQ is obviously better than that of Beiqi and Jiangling.

Since the cruising range is 251km, and the unit power consumption is 12.45% lower than the threshold, the Chery eQ in the evening can get a state subsidy of 34,000 yuan in the future, even if it is less than the current 44,000 yuan. Ten thousand yuan, but the advantages over the aforementioned miniature electric vehicles are still very obvious.

Earlier versions of the eQ will not receive state subsidies due to battery energy density.

Due to space limitations, we only looked at the changes in subsidies that new energy vehicles with over a thousand sales in January will face, and it is easy to see that with the adjustment of the national new energy subsidy policy, most new energy product manufacturers will be affected. Relatively speaking, companies with earlier product listings and lower technical standards will face greater pressure, while those with newer products and higher technical standards will receive more subsidies.
