German solar subsidy is expected to drop by up to 15% in July

According to foreign reports, the German Federal Environmental Protection Agency and the German Solar Energy Industry Association (BSW-Solar) announced on the 20th that if the installed capacity of solar cells in this (2011) year exceeds 3.5 GW (gigawatts), the original In early 2012, the plan to cut 3-15% of the rate of feed-intariff (FIT) tariffs for solar energy systems will be implemented ahead of schedule this July. Solar cell installation estimates will be based on data for the period from March to May this year. If the newly installed solar battery capacity does not exceed 3.5 GW this year, the above subsidy reduction plan will still be implemented as scheduled in early 2012.

The EPA pointed out that if the installed capacity of solar energy systems this year is estimated to exceed 7.5GW, the subsidies will be reduced by 15% in July; if the installed capacity exceeds 6.5GW, the reduction will reach 12%. In addition, the reductions in subsidies for installations exceeding 5.5 GW, 4.5 GW, and 3.5 GW were 9%, 6%, and 3%, respectively.
