Seoul, South Korea, February 23, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- LG Innotet has developed the world's highest power UV-C LED for sterilization, with an LED light power of up to 70 wavelengths at 280 nanometers (nm) Milliwatts (mW). The bactericidal power is 1.5 times higher than the existing 40mW class LED, which can sterilize running water and air.
The UV-C LED is sterilized in the ultraviolet (UV) LED at a wavelength of 200 to 280. Destruction of DNA from bacteria such as Escherichia coli and Salmonella prevents them from multiplying.
So far, UV-C LEDs have been used primarily in small hygiene products. This is because its optical power is low and the bactericidal power is weak. The LED for the toothbrush sterilizer is 1 mW, and the LED for humidifying the humidifier sink is 2 mW.
LG Innotet uses the vertically developed vertical LED chip technology to break through the optical power limitations of existing UV-C. The power is continuously increased, and the generated heat is effectively discharged, thereby ensuring high quality reliability.
It has a length and width of 6 mm (mm) and a thickness of 1.35 mm. Although it is smaller than nails, its bactericidal performance is the highest in the world.
