Wu Changjiang claims to be a business and never believes in fate, but believes in "emotional intelligence."
The sales revenue of NVC, founded by Wu Changjiang, has increased 30 times in 7 years, alarming the president of Philips and is expected to be listed in the US next year.
Wu Changjiang is 41 years old, vice president of Chongqing Chamber of Commerce in Guangdong Province, Tongliang, Chongqing. He graduated from the Aircraft Manufacturing Department of Northwestern Polytechnical University in 1988. He went to the sea in 1992 and founded NVC Industrial Company in 1998. In 2005, the company's sales revenue exceeded 800 million yuan, becoming the largest lighting company in China. It is expected that the output value will reach 1.3 billion yuan this year.
The reporter interviewed Wu Changjiang in Huizhou, Guangdong.
Compared with the last meeting, Wu Changjiang still looks calm and low-key. He said that although NVC is already the largest lighting company in China, there are not many people who know him in Huizhou.
But under the calm appearance, Wu Changjiang's heart is not calm. Wu Changjiang came back from Europe in early May. It is said that a famous lighting company in the world will be branded for NVC. NVC's sales target this year will be 50% higher than last year, reaching 1.3 billion yuan, and will continue to grow 50% next year, reaching 2 billion yuan, and will be listed in the United States. He said: "My goal is too big, not only to be China's number one, but also to be the world's number one."
Go on the road before the promotion
Wu Changjiang was born in the rural area of Tongliang and has poor family conditions. In 1988, Wu Changjiang graduated from Northwestern Polytechnical University and went to Hanzhong Airlines. Although the factory intends to train Wu Changjiang, Wu Changjiang chose to resign on the eve of being promoted to the deputy director. Wu Changjiang said that before he went to sea, he first forced himself to a dead end.
First job as security
Wu Changjiang went from Hanzhong to Shenzhen. After the initial excitement, Wu Changjiang must find a job. Going to a factory to apply for a job, but the security guards insisted that they refused to enter. Wu Changjiang took out the university diploma. Who knows that the security guard glanced at him: "I'm sorry, we don't build a plane here."
Later, Wu Changjiang became a "reserve cadre" in a factory. The so-called reserve cadres, that is, there is no fixed job, only internships in the factory, any one of the positions lacking people must always be on top. "At that time, the security around the factory was not good, and the boss arranged for me to go to the post for a period of time, which is now the security guard."
After working in this factory for four or five months, Wu Changjiang went to work in a lighting factory in Panyu. First, he worked as a mechanic, did design, and then managed. He accumulated hard, until one day after 10 months, he went straight to the boss and told the boss that he was ready to resign and set up his own factory.
There are 3,000 opponents around
At the beginning of 1994, Wu Changjiang came to Huizhou to prepare for business. At that time, he only had 15,000 yuan. In addition, he found 5 shareholders and raised 100,000 yuan to set up Huizhou Minghui Electric Co., Ltd., which was fully responsible by Wu Changjiang.
“The first order is a Hong Kong merchant who wants 20,000 transformers and requires delivery within two weeks.†Wu Changjiang recalled that it is clear that he is familiar with this line. It is only one month to open a mold, but he does not I did not hesitate to pick up the order. Drawing a week and opening a model, more than 10 people continued to work on two overnight and finally handed in orders. The business earned more than 200,000.
In the first year, each of the six shareholders was divided into 380,000.
In 1995, Minghui was acquired by a Hong Kong company. In 1998, Wu Changjiang and two Chongqing middle school students set up NVC Industrial Company with a registered capital of 1 million yuan.
At this time, Philips, Osram, Panasonic and other multinational lighting industry giants have entered China, and there are more than 3,000 lighting companies in the Pearl River Delta region. In this industry with an overall capacity of more than 100 billion, the newly established NVC has no advantage. NVC has been relying on OEMs for foreign companies for a long time. But Wu Changjiang knows that if you want to survive, you only have to build your own brand.
