Texas Instruments Incorporated (TI) announced the availability of the latest DMVA1 IP Network Camera System-on-Chip (SoC) that supports full HD (HD) resolution. By adding intelligent video capabilities to the design, the solution will set off a major wave of innovation in the video surveillance market. Previously, the development of video analytics systems was not only costly, challenging, but also very difficult to integrate, but TI's industry-leading DMVA1 SoC will change that. The target area for DMVA1 is the video surveillance market, which provides entry-level analytics through the integration of TI's first-generation vision co-processors, enabling customers to easily deploy numerous intelligent analytics such as demographics, trip zones, Intelligent motion detection, camera tamper detection, and streaming metadata. In addition, customers can reduce the cost of IP network cameras with video analytics by an order of magnitude due to the tight coupling of visual coprocessors and intelligent analytics in the same chip.

As part of a new generation of products for IP network camera applications in TI's dedicated development plans, DMVA1SoC will make video analytics a de facto feature of the market and will provide more choices for Security customers' design efforts. To simplify the implementation and speed time to market, customers can evaluate the DMVA1 Video Security Camera SoC by ordering a complete IP Network Camera Reference Design.
Hu Yangzhong, President of Hikvision, said: "TI's DMVA1 with integrated video analytics enables Hikvision to differentiate its entire IP network camera portfolio, and we're excited about it. Through pin-to-pin with TI's existing DM36x platform Foot compatible and software compatible, we can leverage our existing investments to quickly develop scalable product lines."
Danny Petkevich, Director of TI's Video and Vision Business Unit, pointed out: "Vision technology is exactly the same as video compression technology 10 years ago. It has a very broad market prospect. Today, video technology is everywhere. TI has greatly promoted the industry by introducing the industry's first visual product. We have opened up new market opportunities and we are very excited about it."
Features and benefits of the DMVA1 video security surveillance camera SoC:
• TI's first-generation visual coprocessor supports TI's intelligent analytics capabilities, including demographics, trigger zones, intelligent motion detection, camera tamper detection, and streaming metadata;
• Designers can take advantage of TI's TMS320DM643x DaVinci video platform for advanced analytics as needed, leveraging the power of hardware and software video analytics solutions from TI's network of developers;
• Integrated 300 MHz ARM926EJ-STM core;
• H.264 high class, main class and basic specification D1 standard supporting 30 frames per second or 720p lower frame rate;
• Video coprocessor provides multi-codec support (H.264, MPEG-4 and MJPEG);
• With TI's on-chip fifth-generation ISP solution, customers can achieve high-quality images without creating internal custom algorithms or purchasing expensive optics. The solution not only features video stabilization technology, face detection, noise filtering, auto white balance, auto focus, auto exposure and edge enhancement, but also provides other video quality enhancements that improve the image and adds a new smart video. Pre-processing function;
• A complete reference design with an advanced graphical user interface (GUI) significantly simplifies design implementation and speeds time-to-market;
• DMVA1 protects customers' investments by pin-to-pin compatibility and software compatibility with TI's successful DM36x DaVinci-based platform.
Supply and price
The DMVA1 video security surveillance camera SoC will begin sampling in early Q2 2010 to customers who have adopted video security Surveillance Products early. The price of the latest DMVA1 is much lower than the price of the components and software it replaces, helping to make video analytics a de facto standard feature in the field of video security surveillance IP network cameras.
The TI DMVA1IPNC-MT5 IP Network Camera Reference Design is now available for ordering, and customers who need to evaluate the DMVA1 Video Security Surveillance Camera SoC can order now.
