TE Connectivity ( TE ) recently introduced a new line of solderless LED sockets . This RoHS-compliant BR-type socket provides fast termination for Bridgelux's RS LEDs. With this new product, customers do not need to design and manufacture a complex metal-plated printed circuit board assembly that can be integrated into a lighting fixture. In addition, it offers lighting designers a wide range of LED mounting options as it can be easily positioned and assembled in any position using simple hand tools.
This one-piece connector assembly features TE 's plug-in wire termination method for solid wires from 18 to 22 AWG, 18 to 20 AWG enameled wire and 18 AWG multi-strand wire. The solderless LED socket assembly integrates the plastic bracket into place on the heat sink and can be assembled safely using only four M3 or #4 screws. By gently pressing the mounting clip, the LED can be secured in the socket housing and the assembly can be mounted to the fixture.
To enhance the integration of this socket, it is designed to fit the LEDIL Britney series of optical components on the market. In addition, there is plenty of room for other custom optical solutions.
Other features of the product include:
· An unobstructed area for the installation of reflectors that can be fitted with custom or commercially available optical components;
· One-piece strain relief groove prevents the wire from being accidentally pulled out after assembly;
· UV-resistant housing material is suitable for outdoor use to prevent discoloration of the housing.
The socket is UL 1977 certified for UL 8750 applications.
