Chuan Nissan sells battery factory: Tesla's production capacity has been saved

According to foreign media reports, some insiders revealed that Panasonic is currently in contact with Nissan, and hopes to acquire a controlling stake in a car battery factory owned by Nissan. The acquisition is not a wholly-owned acquisition, and Panasonic hopes to acquire a 51% stake in the company to achieve control of the company. The Automotive Energy Supply Company is a joint venture between Nissan and Japan Electric Co., Ltd., which is responsible for the production of lithium-ion batteries for electric vehicles.

"Nihon Keizai Shimbun" reported on Friday that Nissan hopes to sell shares in its battery factory, mainly to promote better production of electric vehicles. In Nissan's view, continuing to produce batteries does not bring more profits to the company. Instead, buying batteries directly can reduce costs.

After the news came out, Nissan also wanted some investors to send an e-mail saying that the rumors of selling car battery factories were purely speculation. A spokesperson for Panasonic and NEC also declined to comment on the rumor.

Perhaps after the acquisition, the biggest gain is Tesla, the largest electric vehicle manufacturer in the United States. In May of last year, Panasonic confirmed that they will continue to increase investment and fully support Tesla's Model 3 production target.
