According to sources, the software is installed on the steering wheel of the car, which can identify whether the car is in the laboratory test stage or the real driving state.
After the car is started, if the software detects that there is no activity on the steering wheel, it will assume that the vehicle is in the laboratory test phase and will start the low-level mode of carbon dioxide emissions to get rid of the clearance.
When the steering wheel rotates more than 15 degrees, it will switch to the normal driving mode, and the carbon dioxide emissions will increase.
However, in the test conducted by CARB, the steering wheel rotation caused the cheating to fail, so Audi's fraudulent behavior was smashed out.
